Career Highlight: Awarded a Special Education State of New Hampshire Grant to develop and implement a Homework Helpspace after-school program.
Challenge
To find a way to provide students and parents with additional resources to reinforce classroom curriculum.
Action
- Wrote a grant that was approved by the State of New Hampshire.
- Instituted an after-school environment where resources and staff were available for homework help.
- Worked with telephone company to set up a Homework Hotline for parents to retrieve assignments from their child's teacher via voice mail.
- Communicated program information and requirements to the staff and community.
Result
The Homework Helpspace Program remains an integral part of the after-school programs available to students in the district.
